13 Apr Honorary Diplomas for prominent talents in health care
The Deputy Prime Minister for Social Policies and Minister of Health, Dr. Ilko Semerdzhiev awarded with honorary diplomas organizations working in mentoring and scholarship programs, health mediators, medical students, graduate students and their mentors, who contributed to the growth of the students on different integration programs. The ceremony took place in the Grant Hall of the Council of Ministers on the occasion of the Day of the Health Worker – April 7, and in connection with the International Roma Day – 8 April.
The Deputy Prime Minister handed in person certificates of achievement and promotion of a good example in the community of practitioners – students in the Scholarship Program for Roma students in medical universities and colleges.
Kalin Tanov has graduated medicine, now specializing eye diseases at First Hospital in Sofia; Dimitrinka Borisova is a nurse in the Military Medical Academy and with a master degree in the Faculty of Public Health of Healthcare Management; Milyana Evtimova is a midwife and with a master degree in Healthcare Management; Miroslav Angelov – a trainee-doctor, thanked on behalf of the students for the recognition, as well as for the moral support of mentors and all those working under the Scholarship Program. He also shared that the road was not easy, but it is important to keep their motivation in the important medical profession.
An award for contribution to supporting the development of young Roma people and students in Bulgaria was presented to the Open Society Institute for Scholarship Program, which has been running for over nine years now, and gives opportunities to young, educated and strongly motivated people of Roma origin to develop their knowledges and professionals skills in the field of health care. The program is supported by the Open Society Foundation and the Roma Education Fund. The Open Society Institute – Sofia, while the Intelday Foundation and Amalipe Center are committed to its implementation in Bulgaria.
